| Knowledge surveys are not tests.
A
knowledge survey is a series of content-based questions sequenced in
order of presentation during a course. Students do not answer the
questions; rather, they rank their confidence in their ability to
answer each question.
A knowledge survey is given at both the beginning and end of a
course. Many of you participated in a knowledge survey during the
Spring 2006 semester asking you to rate your level of confidence in
answering a variety of questions about Student Learning Outcomes.
Below are some links describing Knowledge Surveys and two links to
actual surveys being used at Columbia College. If you are
using Knowledge Surveys in any of your courses and would like to
share an example with your colleagues, please contact any member of
the SLO Workgroup
to add it to this website.
