Tenets for the Excellence Initiative Are: |

| Tenet 1 | Expect excellence and continual improvement in all College programs and services. |
| Tenet 2 | Explore and incorporate best practices, innovations and state-of-the art research to achieve excellence. |
| Tenet 3 | Focus all programs and services on the needs of students and community. |
| Tenet 4 | Support essential new and existing programs, improve or eliminating weak programs and sunset programs that no longer meet identifiable needs. |
| Tenet 5 | Provide necessary resources to achieve excellence through the reallocation of resources and aggressively seeking alternative funding sources. |
| Tenet 6 | Use technology wisely and aggressively to support excellence. |
| Tenet 7 | Involve students and local communities in the pursuit of excellence. |
| Tenet 8 | Expect excellence and continual improvement from all staff, faculty and students. |
| Tenet 9 | Strengthen the sense of community on the College campus and collaboration among employees, programs and areas. |
| Tenet 10 | Continually assess the Excellence Initiative using both internal and external measures of success. |
| Tenet 11 | Clearly communicate and celebrate excellence. |
