Technology Committee

NOTES

November 30, 2006

There was major discussion of the technology purchase plan.  It was discussed whether to use the $60,000. allocated by Dennis Gervin for computer replacement or for upgrades.  It was determined to upgrade ATTC and Sequoia 8 computers with new video cards and additional RAM.  This will only be a stop gap until next year but would allow vitally important courses to be currently taught in those rooms.  It was also decided to purchase new CPU’s for Calaveras Center in order to adhere to the $1,000. per item limit.  $40,000. may be allocated in Block Grant monies to replace one-half of the computers in the Library.

It was asked if campus wide departments would be purchasing technology equipment.  If so, it was suggested the Technology Committee take a look at that list so that Media/Technology would not duplicate efforts in ordering equipment for classrooms.

It was also suggested that Marty Gang have an opportunity to review all technology requests before they reach the point of being entered into Datatel.  Gary Mendenhall asked Marty to develop a procedure to be taken to the College Council.
